BILSTEIN GROUP products are supplied as standard with an MA surface type, and RL surface finish. Depending on the material and thickness, an alternative type or finish can be selected, in line with DIN EN 10139 standards. Customer-specific agreements can also be reached to provide other surface finishes not covered by this standard to match the application. As an example, peak values and/or bearing ratios can be defined to aid the forming process, while at the same time, optimizing the component’s properties for its final application.
The following variants and combinations are available as standard:
Surface types | Surface finishes | |
---|---|---|
MA | Bright, metallically clean surfaces. Pores, small errors and light scratches are admissible |
RL= smooth = Ra ≤ 0,6 µm RM = matte = RA 0,6 – 1,5µm RR= rough =RA ≥ 1,5 µm |
MB | Bright, metallically clean surfaces. Pores, grooves and scratches are only admissible to such an extent that by looking with the naked eye the uniformly smooth looking appearance seems not to be significantly affected. |
RL RM |
MC | Bright, metallically clean surfaces. Pores, grooves and scratches are only admissible to such a little extent that the uniform appearance of the bright surface is not affected. |
RN = bright = RA ≤ 0,2 µm |
For tempered steels, it is also possible to provide the following surface finishes based on individual customer demand:
Structure: ground, brushed, polished
Color: bright, grey-blue, colored tempering
